Robert Taylor

Robert Gerald Taylor, 82, of Oakland died on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on May 13, 1936, in Blue Mound, IL, he was the son of the late Gerald G. and Rose (Montgomery) Taylor. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, having obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a sales rep and, later, a sales manager for Walgreen Agency Drugstores. After he retired, he served as a real estate agent for both A & A Realty and Garrettland Realty. Of the hobbies he had over the years, what he enjoyed most was traveling the world with his darling wife. He is survived by three children, Suzan O'Brien and husband Brian of Deep Creek Lake, Dave Taylor and significant other Maria Carr of Oakland, and Barbara Baker of Swanton and significant other Bryce Broadwater; five grandchildren, Lauren McCann and husband Travis, Katelyn O'Brien, Kelly Taylor, Samantha Taylor and Nicole Baker; three great grandchildren, Marlee Thomas, Quinn McCann and Haylee Miller; and a brother Ronald Taylor and wife Nancy of Decatur, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Throp Taylor and a granddaughter, Megan Mary O'Brien. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, December 21st from 10 to 11 AM after which time a memorial service will be held. Military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guard of the American Legion Post #71 and the Deer Park VFW Post #10077. Interment will take place at a later date in Old Stonington Cemetery, Stonington, IL.
