Richard Glenn “Buck” Knotts, 92, of Eglon, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on July 12, 1927, Buck is the son of the late Harvey L. and Merle O. (Snyder) Knotts. Buck graduated from Aurora High School. He proudly served five years in the United States Army during World War II as rifleman on the European front. Upon returning home, he reenlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired after 20 years of service. Buck enjoyed retirement in West Virginia. He loved being able to raise his daughters and watch them grow into beautiful young women and spend time with his wife. His days were spent helping on the family farm. Buck enjoyed carpentry and helped build several log cabins. He loved to go fishing and playing his guitar. Buck is survived by his bride of 62 years, Patricia Ann (Evans) Knotts; his daughters, Charlotte Strawser and husband Allen of Eglon, Kathleen Hamperian and husband John of Morgantown, Rachel Knapp and friend Daniel of Oakland; grandchildren, Chad Strawser and friend Ashley, Leslie Rager and husband William, Bridgette Tuttle and husband Randy, Nic Hamperian, Geoffrey Hamperian, Zachary Evans and Braedon Evans; great grandchildren, Cameron Strawser, Mason Strawser, James Rager, Alyssa Rager, Kaydence Rosier, Haley Tuttle, Adrianna Tuttle, John Tuttle; one sister, Bonnie Jean Blamble. In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by five siblings, Blanche Wotring, Colleen Irvin, Amos Knotts, Arbabella Hinkle and Mary Lantz. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 5-8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the Accident Community Cemetery, Eglon, WV with military honors being accorded by the Preston Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.
