Paul Neven Petersheim, age 70, of Oakland, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home. Born on November 30, 1950 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Henry D. and Elizabeth M. (Shetler) Petersheim.
Paul was passionate about his family and his faith in Jesus Christ, and was an active member of Mountain View Mennonite Church. He invested himself in the Choice Books ministry for 30+ years, serving in various capacities ranging from full-time service to chairing the board. Throughout the years Paul was also actively involved with various charities and organizations both within and outside the community, but his commitments to such were always weighed against his ability to continue caring for his daughter “Debs.” An avid book-lover, Paul was a life-long learner: he enjoyed reading and absorbing books, and was always eager to discuss his latest “fresh understanding” with others. Paul loved agronomy, farming and growing quality produce. He and his family owned and operated Mt. Valley Produce for over 30 years.
Paul is survived by his wife of 46 years, Naomi (Beachy) Petersheim; his children, Matthew Petersheim and wife Diana of Kalona, IA, son-in-law Vincent Kauffman (husband of Rachel) of Mill Hall, PA, Michael Petersheim and wife Melissa of Salisbury, PA, Joshua Petersheim of Harrisonburg, VA, Rebecca Coblentz and husband Kevin of Oakland, and Deborah Petersheim of Oakland; 16 grandchildren; and two siblings, Irene Yoder and husband Daniel of Oakland, Edward Petersheim and wife Orpha of Oakland.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel (Petersheim) Kauffman in November 2020.
Friends will be received at the Loch Lynn Church of God, 8649 Gorman Road, Oakland on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Leighton Yoder and Merl Beachy officiating.
