Patricia J. Filsinger, 90, of Deer Park, MD, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the Dennett Road Manor in Oakland.
Pat was born December 31, 1930, in Deer Park, MD. She was the daughter of the late Philip Filsinger and Mary (Ruge) Filsinger. She was a graduate of Oakland High School, Class of 1948 and went on to graduate from Maryland Institute of Art and Towson Teachers College, beginning her teaching career in Baltimore County and retiring from teaching in Garrett County. Pat was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, a past member of The Women’s Civic Club, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Deer Park Fire Department, where at one time she held the office of Secretary and then Treasurer. She was also a past volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Nearly New Shop, and House of Hope Food Pantry. She enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling, and bridge, and the friends who participated with her. Pat had a special love for animals, and rescued many cats, dogs, and even wild birds over the years. She was a talented artist with a keen eye for the beauty of ordinary scenes. Her works grace the homes of many family members and others. Pat was highly devoted to her nieces and nephews, saving money every year to ensure that each one received a special Christmas present. She loved sharing the fruits of her garden and her multitude of recipes.
Pat is survived by her sister, Barbara Pritts, Deer Park, a number of nieces and nephews, plus a few furry friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no visitation and a private family service will be held. Interment will be in Deer Park Cemetery.
