Janet Geer

December 29, 1938 — July 3, 2020

Kitzmiller

Janet Ruth Geer, age 81, of Mountain Lake Park, formerly of Kitzmiller, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Cortland Acres. Born on December 29, 1938, in Short Run, MD, she was the daughter of the late E. Milo Wilson and Thelma F. Harvey. Janet was born at home on a small farm and had pet lambs growing up. After graduating from Elk Garden High School, Janet took a job for a short time in Baltimore. She returned to her home on Short Run to marry Sonny Geer who had been courting her for some time. Together, Janet and Sonny moved to Braceville, OH where they raised their family. She loved to travel the back roads all over the United States. When Sonny retired, they sold the family home in Ohio and spent their winters in the Florida Keys. Summers were spent at the cabin on Short Run Road for over 30 years.

Janet was kind, joyous, understanding and loved by everyone who met or knew her. She was gracefully beautiful inside and out. She shared her love by sewing quilts for family, especially each newborn addition to her growing family and cooking everyone's favorite foods when they visited like homemade cinnamon rolls, fudge and pizza. Janet had a passion for flowering gardening, playing cards and was very artistic, recently revisiting her childhood love of painting.

Janet is survived by her children, Ron Geer and wife Kay of Rochelle, VA, Larry Geer and wife Theresa of Kitzmiller, Arnette Badanjek and husband Bill of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Wayne Geer and wife Jennifer of Canton, OH; grandchildren, Josh Geer and wife Jeannine, Phil Geer and wife Samantha, Rachel Roberts and husband Brandon, Cari Helbig and husband Daniel, Trina Badanjek, Billy Badanjek and wife Christine, Matt Badanjek and fiancee Danna, Stephanie Kitchen and husband Martin and Jenny Geer; great grandchildren, Brett, Alycea, Jacob, Shelby, James Jr., MacKenzie, Christian, Madison, Corinne, Sloane, Jeremiah and baby boy Geer; her brothers, Donald Wilson and wife Mary Louise, Gerald L. “Lynn” Wilson and wife Mary Louise “Chip.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Arnold E. “Sonny” Geer.

In accordance with Janet’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., is honored to serve the Geer family at this time.
