Irene Stolworthy (Harrison) Windell, age 98, of Cranesville, WV and in the most recent years, a resident of Cherry Hill Assisted Living in Accident, MD passed away on November 22, 2020. She was born on April 7, 1922, in Sutton Bridge, England, a daughter to the late Frank and Lillian (Stolworthy) Harrison.

After completing primary and secondary school, she trained as a nursery school teacher. She met her soon-to-be husband, Lt. Glenn F. Windell, while he was serving in England during WWII. In 1946, she came to the USA and married Glenn. While living in Arlington, VA for 36 years, Irene worked as a buyer in the fine china department at Garfinkel’s in Washington, D.C. After retirement, Irene and Glenn moved to Cranesville, WV in 1982. Irene was a lifetime golfer, having played with her parents and friends in England, with her husband, and with the Women’s League at Alpine Lake. Irene's hobbies included gardening, sewing, and tailoring. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Oakland, MD.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, on October 11, 2013, and to whom she was married on January 29, 1947, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Oakland, MD. Also preceding her in death were two nephews, Blaine Windell and Harry Windell, and one niece, Betty Jean Windell Blackburn.

Surviving are four nephews, David Cunha, Michael Squires, Joseph Windell and Gerald Windell, and thirteen nieces, Patricia Squires Compton, Helen Cunha West, Judith Squires Sconyers, Leanna Windel Wiegand, Wendy Ann Teets Berry, Charlotte Windell Zickafoose, Marsha Windell, Claudia Windell Monahan, Susan Windell Biddulph, Barbara “Bobbie” Teets Lowdermilk, Nancy Squires, Janie Marie Windell Collins and Bonnie Windell Moats, along with a host of great-nephews and great-nieces.

Mrs. Windell’s request for cremation will be honored. There are no services scheduled at this time. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, is honored to be serving the Windell family at this time. Condolences may be made to the family at www.csfredlockfh.com
