Hester Foley

Hester Catherine (Baker) Foley, age 101, of Oakland, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Garrett Regional Medical Center.  Born on December 18, 1919 in Gortner, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan Wilson and Nellie Blanche (Davis) Baker.

Hester was a graduate of Oakland High School, Class of 1938.  She worked at Custer's Veterinary Clinic and retired from a position at The Republican newspaper.  Hester was a charter member of Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Oakland.

Hester is survived by two daughters, Patricia Foley of Oakland, Jeannette James and husband Wilbur Everett of Stanley, NC; two sons, John Foley and wife Wanda of Oakland, Michael Foley of New York, NY; a son-in-law, Thomas Farrell of New London, CT; daughter-in-law, Michelle Foley of Phoenix City, AL; grandchildren, Scott Foley and wife Jennifer, Misti Graham, Sean Foley and wife Meghan, Tony Foley and wife Anessia, Ian Rigby, Katie Horne and husband Jon, Christina Biron and husband Michael, Felicia Stevens, Patrick Farrell; great grandchildren, Brianna Graham, Emilee Graham, Kalea Foley, Kylie Foley, Kinzlee Horne, Austin Horne, Colby Horne, Wriston Horne, Peyton Foley and wife Cristina, Kerris Foley, Kieran Foley, Emily Stevens and William Farrell; a great-great granddaughter, Ava Horne; and a sister, Ann DeBerry

In addition to her parents, Hester was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Foley in 1959, three children, Catherine Farrell, Anthony Foley and Robert Foley, two grandchildren, Jonathan James and Elizabeth Foley, two brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Father Timothy J. Grassi officiating.  Interment will be held in Oakland Cemetery.
