Donald Keith Wolfe, Sr., 87, of Oakland, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at his home. Born on June 12, 1934, in Horse Shoe Run, WV, he was the son of the late Ralph L. and Bessie (Roth) Wolfe.
He was a 1951 graduate of Oakland High School. He was a truck driver for Fairfax Sand & Stone. Mr. Wolfe also operated a family-owned business, Pine Ridge Grocery, at Gnegy Church, owned and operated a backhoe business, and was a farmer. He was a master woodworker who owned his own shop and made furniture for both his famiy and the public. He crafted custom Adirondack chairs, china closets, gun cabinets and dining room tables. His pieces could be found throughout New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. Mr. Wolfe was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Red House. He enjoyed traveling to North and South Carolina, Nashville, Branson, Atlantic City and Thunder Bay, Canada. He loved his children and grandchildren and delighted in teaching them the fundamentals of fishing, hunting and gardening. He will be fondly remembered for always offering encouragement in their endeavors.
He is survived by his five children, Sandra Brining and husband David, Sheila Slaubaugh and husband Brad, Cindy Kelley and husband Charlie, Donald Wolfe, Jr. and wife Donna, and Ralph Wolfe and wife Celine; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Woods Queen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Nellie (Neff) Wolfe, on May 14, 2020; a great grandson, Quintin Kelly; and a sister, Helen K. Wolfe.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 5 to 7 PM and at St. John's Lutheran Church, 3301 Garrett Hwy, Oakland on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 10 to 11 AM. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11 AM with Rev. Michael R. Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
