C. Edward ”Ed” Bowser, Jr., age 84, of Oakland, MD passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the WVU United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV after a brief illness.

Born on November 11, 1935, in Cumberland, MD, was the son of the late Carlton E. and Violet (Foreman) Bowser. He graduated from Southern Garrett High School in 1955. He went on to attend Shenandoah Music Conservatory in Virginia. While attending, he earned his degree majoring in trumpet and minoring in piano.  Ed worked as an insurance agent for Bowser Insurance Agency for a total of 63 years. He continued the family tradition being the fourth generation to run the family farm. Ed had a great variety of past times. He enjoyed fly fishing, scuba diving, karate, and motorcycle riding. He was very successful when he was participating in karate as he received his 1St degree black belt at the age of 50. He also really enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and racing.  Ed was a member of the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church.  Ed surrendered his life to the Lord and walked in the Christian way.  He would want everyone to know the peace and love that Jesus Christ offers through salvation.

Ed is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pat Bowser; his daughter, Denise Haines and husband Steve of Oakland, MD; his son, Loren Bowser and wife Christa of Oakland, MD; his daughter, Stacy Davis and husband Johnnie of Martinsburg, WV; and daughter, Jody Varda and husband Travis of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Shelly Argabrite of Oakland, MD, Michael Bowser and wife Kloey of Morgantown, WV,  Josh Heginbotham and wife Lauren of Martinsburg, WV, Kate Heginbotham of Martinsburg, WV, Emily Bowser and Luke Bowser of Oakland, MD, and Austin Varda and Avery Varda of Morgantown, WV; great grandchildren, Gracie Argabrite, Caroline Argabrite and Nathaniel Argabrite of Oakland, MD. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Jean Bowser.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A. 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 2 PM - 6 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 11 AM at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery.  For safety, we kindly encourage all in attendance to wear a face covering, practice social distancing, and If you are sick, stay home and visit with the family in the future.

In lieu of flowers, gestures of sympathy can be made to the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church of Oakland, MD.
