Vivian "Leona" Brantner

Vivian Leona Brantner, 83, of Mtn. Lake Park, formerly of Kitzmiller, died on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on November 16, 1935, in Elk Garden, WV, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Hazel (Simmons) Stonebraker. Leona retired from the Board of Education, where she had worked for over 20 years and was a life-long member of the Kitzmiller VFD Ladies Auxiliary. Leona loved to play Bingo and shop, but mostly, she treasured the time spent with family and friends, and pet, Gizmo. She enjoyed the many years of camping with her husband and family on the riverbanks in Romney, WV. She loved her children, grandchildren, and never skipped an opportunity to brag about them. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Brantner and fiance Jim Stewart of Oakland; sons, William Brantner and wife Kristi of Friendsville and Michael Brantner and wife Susie of Mtn. Lake Park, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Kerri Brantner, William Brantner, Ian Brantner, Ainsley Brantner, Katelyn and Emma Harsh, and Heidi Nelson; great grandchildren, Kendall, Tanner and Gracie; her sidekick, Gizmo; a brother, Robert Stonebraker and wife Vera of Elk Garden, WV; a sister in law, Juanita Stonebraker of Mtn. Lake Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Brantner, Sr., in 2014; three sisters; a brother; and a grandson. At her request, her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held in the Kitzmiller School at 2 PM on Sunday, April 28th with Rev. Matthew Paugh officiating. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.. Memorial donations may be made to the Kitzmiller VFD, 249 E Main St., Kitzmiller, MD 21538 or the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad, 200 Baltimore Ave, Oakland, MD 21550. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting with arrangements.
