Tommy Bernard Lipscomb, 84, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on January 16, 1939, in Eglon, WV, he was the son of the late Charles H. Lipscomb and Lona Sarah (Bolyard) Lipscomb.
Tommy was a graduate of Aurora High School and pursued higher education at Potomac State College. He was a very accomplished farmer and won first place in the 1989 National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) contest. He was the co-owner of L & L Builders where he worked as a builder, contractor, and carpenter. In his free time, Tommy enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 24 years, Bernadette (Arnett) Lipscomb; children, Tom W. Lipscomb and wife Kathy, and Jeffrey B. Lipscomb and fiancée Maria; step-children, Annette Strawser and husband Alan, and Danny Arnett and wife Kim; grandchildren, Thomas H. Lipscomb, Sandra M. Morrison, and Ethan J. Lipscomb; step-grandchildren, Michael Strawser, Patrick Arnett, and Dustin Arnett; great-grandchild, Lilly Morrison; step-great-grandchildren, Vera Strawser and Jase Strawser; a brother, Edward Lipscomb; and a special nephew, John Lipscomb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Lipscomb, Lourain "L.H." Lipscomb and a sister, Doretta Vincent.
Friends will be received on Wednesday July 5, 2023, from 5 to 8 PM at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11 AM with Rev. Lee Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in the Red House Lutheran Cemetery.
