Sara Mersing

Sara R. Mersing, 78, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at her home. Born on April 15, 1943, in Terra Alta, she was the daughter of the late C. Abe and Myrtle (Nine) Mersing.
Known as the "Cookie Lady", Sara was a graduate of Terra Alta High School. She was an active member of the Crellin United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Sara enjoyed spending many hours crocheting and knitting afghans and baby blankets for the nursing homes and hospitals.
She is survived by a brother, Thomas A. Mersing of Turner Douglas, WV; a sister, of Helen Shaffer of Oakland; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Mersing, and a sister, Garnetta E. Bell.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 1 to 5 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022, in the Crellin United Methodist Church, 57 Crellin St., Oakland, at 11 AM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
