Ronald Meadows

January 23, 1945 — June 24, 2024

McHenry

Ronald Edward Meadows Sr., 79, passed away on June 24, 2024, at his home in McHenry, MD. Born on January 23, 1945, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edward Meadows and Geraldine (Taylor) Meadows.

Affectionately known as "Ronnie" and "Big Ronnie" by loved ones, he was raised by his grandmother Dora Taylor known as Grandma Taylor. While working at the shipyard, Ronald moved to Chestnut Hill Ave., and became neighbors with the Cheeks family. He shared a special bond with the family and particularly with Melva, whom he noticed during a moment of helping the Cheeks by pouring cement. Ronald and Melva later married and began their life together. He devoted over two decades of his career to Bethlehem Steel as a steel burner while also investing in real estate. After his children graduated, he and his wife relocated to McHenry, where he spent his remaining years engaging in activities like lawn care, construction projects, baking, winemaking, and cherishing moments with Melva. He adored spending time with his grandchildren, who held a very special place in his heart. He also found joy in fishing and singing in the choir at Centennial United Methodist Church.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 44 years, Melva (Cheeks) Meadows; children, Demetrice and husband Orlando, and Donnell and wife Allyson; a sister Sheila; grandchildren, Ronald III, Randy, Janet, Khadijah, Lailona, Akari, Nolan, London, Olivia, Owen, Sydney, and Shane; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and grandmother, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Jr. and Rodney Meadows; and a granddaughter, Ronette.

The C&S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, is honored to be serving the Meadows family at this time.
