Romona "Mona" Sheridan, 63, recently of Oakland, MD but born and raised in Covington, Louisiana, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 following a near eight month journey with brain cancer. Mona was preceded in death by her husband, Marlon J. Sheridan of Madisonville, Louisiana, her oldest sister, Patricia Jackson of Hammond, Louisiana, and her parents, Nathaniel and Lillian Jackson. She is survived by her four children, Tanya Brister, Latricia Jackson, Marlana Bollinger, and Jeromy Sheridan; 2 sons-in-law, George Brister Sr. and Brian Bollinger; three grandsons, George Brister, Jr., Jonathan Brister, and Melvin Bates, Jr.; two granddaughters-in-law, Deandre Brister and Cidney Brister; two great grandchildren, Gianni Brister and Jaiden Brister; 5 siblings, Beverly Jackson, Joyce Jackson, Nathaniel "Fella" Jackson, Jr., Anita Jackson, and Debra Hoskin; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mona was an active member of Community Church under the care of Pastor Nate Young. She loved the Lord and freely expressed this in the way she loved and supported others. She spent most of her professional life working as a cook, which doubled as a hobby of hers. In recent years, when she wasn't in the kitchen, you could find her in front of a television watching Walker Texas Ranger or Criminal Minds. Some of her favorite movies include Best Little Whore House in Texas (she was a huge Dolly Parton fan!) and Matilda ("You can do it Brucey!").
According to her wishes, Mona has been cremated and private interment will be with her family in Louisiana. The Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023 at 2pm at Helping Hands Cemetery in Madisonville, Louisiana. A local Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at 2pm at Crossroads Church in Oakland, Maryland.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the St. Tammany Cancer Center, Wellspring Family Medicine Staff and the GRMC Subacute Staff.
The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is honored to be assisting Mona's family.
