Robert Lee Simmons, 66, of Elk Garden went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland, after a long hard fight with a respiratory illness. Born on April 14, 1955, in Keyser, he was the son of Melvin (Ted) and Mary Bernadine (Lyons) Simmons.

Robert was a 1973 graduate of Elk Garden High School. Robert has been married to his school sweetheart, Marlene Watts for 45 years; who he adored and spent his life working to provide for her and his sons. He was a Superintendent for Allegheny Mining and numerous other companies that followed. He was known for his hard work ethics and love for hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sons hunting and fishing, driving his 72 Mach 1 Mustang and listening to solid gold. Robert and his brother,
" Edgel '' had a special bond and were best friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Watts) Simmons, two sons, Joshua Lee Simmons and wife, Cassie and Justin Luke Simmons and wife Carol; grandchildren, Carson Oster, Mariah and Colton Simmons; a brother, Melvin (Edgel) Simmons II and wife, Janet and their son Matthew Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Per Robert's wishes, there will be a private funeral. Interment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nethken Hill United Methodist Church, 338 Center St, Elk Garden, WV. 26717 or The House of Prayer, 379 Hartmansville Road, Elk Garden, WV. 26717.
