Lorene Upperman

Lorene Upperman, 90, went peacefully to be with the Lord on December 18, 2021, at her residence in Keyser, WV. She was born in Loch Lynn, MD, and was a daughter to the late James and Bertha (Harvey) Shaffer.


Lorene was a true woman of God. She came up in the church her mother-in-law built, The Church of God of Prophecy in Deer Park, MD. She was as faithful to her family as she was to her God! When she prayed, things happened. She was truly blessed by God and returned that blessing in kind to all she met. She was a wonderful singer and piano player. She loved to sing with her best friend Lola. Lorene was always trying to feed anyone who came to visit her all thru out her life. She was to caring and loving of all God's children, not just her own. She loved to go shopping and was always looking for a pretty dress to wear. Between working at the hospital, church and her husband's farm; she was always trying to help everyone she met. She was a wonderful cook and mother to many, not just her own.

She will be missed so very much by her family and friends. Just knowing she is at peace and with God in Heaven gives comfort to those who love her. Heaven received a most precious angel. She will be forever in our hearts as she walks by God in His holy city.

She is survived by her children; Dolores Jane Upperman, Margaret Elaine Upperman and Eric James and wife Maria; grandchildren; Heather Smith and husband Steve, April Debarr, Billy Lloyd and fiancé Angel, Vicki Wilt, Bryson Upperman and wife Shivon and Leighann Hempel and husband Will; great-grandchildren; Cree Lloyd, Briella Lloyd, Dekker Lloyd, Kristin Wilt, William Wilt, Titus Smith, Milan Hempel, Lola Hempel, Asher Upperman, Liam Upperman and Mia Upperman; and sister-in-law and best friend, Lola Jones and Snookie, (her puppy and best friend who never left her side)

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wilbur L. Upperman (WWII Veteran) who passed in August 2014, and brothers, Ralph and Paul Shaffer.


Friends will be received Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, PA, 21 N 2nd St, Oakland, MD, from 11 am to 1 pm at which time a service will follow with Pastor John Skipper officiating. Interment will be at Garrett Memorial Gardens. The C & S Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Upperman Family at this time.
