Laura Harvey

Laura Belle (Burrell) Harvey, 96, of Oakland went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 24, 1927, in Kitzmiller, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Gertrude M. (Craver) Burrell.

She was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church and a very active member of the Deer Park Homemakers. She enjoyed working with the Deer Park 4-H and was a judge for the 4-H for many years at the Garrett County Fair. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching hummingbirds, cooking and baking. Her greatest joy was crocheting and so many people were recipients of her beautiful potholders. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Doug Harvey and wife Martha of Opelika, AL, Dennis Harvey and wife Brenda of Oakland, Emily Hindy and husband Ron of Beverly, OH, and Mark Harvey and wife Rhonda of TN; ten grandchildren, Angela Faye Anderson, Samantha Kaye Marler, Josh Harvey, Steven Harvey, Ryan Harvey, Lara Reall, Adam Harvey, Aaron Hindy, Jared Hindy and Joel Hindy; twenty great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Galen B. Harvey, in 1985; a brother, Frankie Burrell; and sister, Ula Mae (Burrell) Sims.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, July, 12, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM and on Thursday, July 13, from 10 to 11 AM at the Deer Park United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow with her son Dennis Harvey and Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating.

Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery.
