George Moon

George Arlington Moon, 91, of Oakland, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Born on June 7, 1931, in Garrett County, he was the son of the late Albert Manuel and Hallie Pearl (Fulmer) Moon. 

George attended Bethlehem School. He owned and operated his own saw mill, B & G Lumber. He also worked at wood products for over 20 years. He enjoyed cutting wood as a hobby as well. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Tasker) Moon; five children, Bill Moon, Hallie Metheny and husband Joe, Ida Meyers and husband Jeff, Tammy Moon, and Albert Moon and special friend Dawn, all of Oakland; a daughter in law, Wendy Moon; four grandchildren, Chelsea Abe and husband Makoto, Cassie Cogley, Joshua Moon and wife Nicole, and Karlee Meyers and fiance Aaron Savage; seven great grandchildren, Lyla Cogley, Caedon Cogley, Alyssa Cogley, Brayden Moon, Eleanor Abe, Benji DeWitt, and Blake Moon; brother, Luther Moon and wife Marge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darvin C. Moon and five siblings, Earl Andrew Moon, Jeannette Steyer, Ralph Manuel Moon, Anna Burrell, and Clifford Lloyd Moon.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM and on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM at Kurtz Chapel United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will follow in the Tasker Family Cemetery.
