Gary Dixon

Gary Vanmeter Dixon, 85, of North Ft. Myers passed away on July 7, 2022. Gary was born on January 15,1937, in Accident, MD, to the late Florence (Dixon) Sanders. Gary grew up in Oakland, MD.

Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who always had a smile on his face and loved watching the hummingbirds on his front porch in Garret County, MD. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was an entrepreneur of Dixon Motor Freight and Schurr Transportation Inc. Gary was passionate about golf, especially playing in Charlie’s Angels at the Oakland Golf Club, deep sea fishing, and his dog Lola.

Gary leaves behind many memories with his wife, Bonnie B. Dixon, of 42 years; two daughters, Georgette Maslanik and MaryLou Read; two sons, Michael Conway and Daniel Conway; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and his loving furry companion, Lola.

He was preceded in death by his son Gary Vanmeter Dixon, Jr.
