Frederick Helbig

Frederick Edward Helbig, Jr., 38, of Oakland died on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at his home. Born on May 23, 1980, in Cumberland, he was the son of Patricia Ann (Beckman) Helbig and Frederick Edward Helbig, Sr. and wife Beverly. He was an automotive technician for Helbig’s Repair Shop. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, sport shooting and spending time on the Helbig Farm. Above all, he loved spending time with his daughter and will be remembered as a great father. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Melody Dawn (Friend) Helbig; his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth “Maggie” Helbig; two sisters, Rebecca A. Helbig and husband Kevin Nolan of Alexandria, VA and Valerie A. Helbig of Oakland; two nieces and two nephews; and his Godparents, Douge and Patty Helbig. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, January 31st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 1st at 11 AM with Pastor Jeff Kroll officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to a fund established for his daughter Maggie, payable to: Margaret Helbig, c/o First United Bank & Trust, 19 S. Second St., Oakland, MD 21550.
