Frank Damon, Jr.

September 4, 1931 — March 17, 2023

Frank Nash Damon Jr., 91, of Oakland, MD, passed away on March 17, 2023, at his son's home in Frederick, MD. Born on September 4, 1931, in Vindex, MD, he was the son of the late Frank N. Damon, Sr. and Vada P. Damon. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 18, where he served for four years. While in the Korean War, he was stationed in the Philippines for two years. In 1957 he and his wife moved to Silver Spring, Maryland to raise their family. After spending 50 years in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, in the fall of 2000, he and his wife moved back to Western Maryland where they both had been born and raised.

Frank was a graduate of Kitzmiller High School. He was often referred to as a jack of all trades and eventually went to work for the Netherland Embassy in Washington, DC where he retired from in 1996. He was baptized in the Mormon faith but later converted to the Methodist denomination. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed bowling, golf, baseball/softball, ping pong and playing games/cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always went the extra mile to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Life's simple pleasures seemed to bring the most joy to him, he was a firm believer in keeping active, and even in his later years he filled his time playing on a bowling league, golfing, tending to his yard, and when he would sit, it was usually to watch cowboy/western movies, news, or golf on television. For the ones who truly knew him they would say he was one of a kind and wasn't afraid to share his thoughts or opinions. He had a quick wit and a good sense of humor.

He is survived by his two children, F. Douglas Damon of Frederick, MD, and Terri L. Bauer and husband Jeff of Olney, MD. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Bradford Bauer and wife Sabrina, Spencer Bauer, Shane Bauer, and Christopher Damon and wife Laura. He had five great-grandchildren, Blakely Bauer, Kinsey Bauer, Riley Damon, Brooks Damon and Cooper Damon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, W. Eileen Damon, and his siblings, Mary Murphy, Margaret Starkey, Helen Alvord, Alice Blorstad, Bob Damon, and Doug Damon.

Frank requested that no memorial service be held because he wanted to be remembered by the special times he shared with the people he cared about. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation, PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.

The C&S Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is honored to be serving the Damon Family at this time.
