Frances Watts

Frances Alverta Watts, age 101, of Fort Ashby, WV, formerly of Elk Garden, WV, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Dawnview Center.  Born on August 19, 1919 in Elk Garden, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Florence Hoopengardner.

Frances was a devoted caregiver, homemaker and mother.  She made the most of educating and caring for her children with these resources that were available to her.  She was very proud of her family’s service in the United States Military having five sons serve during the Vietnam War, one brother serve in World War II and four brothers serve in World War I.  Throughout her life, Frances enjoyed traveling with her family.  She loved to cruise and also enjoyed a memorable trip to the Daytona 500.

Frances is survived by her children, Glenn L. Watts, Jr. and wife Sharon, Clarence D. Watts and wife Christina, Daniel R. Watts and wife Charlotte, Garry M. Watts and wife Linda, Sheila J. Harr and partner Harry Kelly, Marlene T. Simmons and husband Robert; daughters-in-law, Shirley M. Watts and Faye S. Watts; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn L. Watts, Sr; two children, Thomas D. Watts and Gilbert T. Watts; and 17 siblings.  She was the youngest child in her family and the last living relative of her generation.

Friends and family will be received at the Elk Garden Assembly of God, 28 Center St., Elk Garden, WV on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 11-1 PM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Greg Moreland officiating.  Interment will be held in IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden.
