Ellis Lot Ashby, Jr., age 76, died on December 16, 2020 at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins, WV. He was born April 10, 1944 in Parsons, WV; a son to the late Ellis Lot Ashby, Sr., and Helen Joyce (Pase) Ashby.
Mr. Ashby is survived by one son, Gregory Ashby and wife Tammy of Thomas, WV, one brother, Pat Ashby of Huntington, WV, one sister, Linda Guerrieri and husband Frank, of Gainesville, VA, five grandchildren, Claudia Ashby, Dominique Ashby, Xzandra Ashby, Travis Ashby, and Lalah Ends, and four great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Jamie, Jackie, and Hunter.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School Class of 1963. After graduating, he served in the United States Army. Ellie was known by generations of kids growing up through Mountaineer School and Davis-Thomas Elementary School; he was the well-known and well-liked janitor. He was a member of FOE 936 and the American Legion. He never met a stranger and loved spending time shooting the breeze with his friends. He thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR and WVU Sports. He was an avid car man; his pride and joy being his Mustang. He also had a massive coin collection from years of collecting.
Friends will be received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 5 – 7 pm. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am, Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home with Father Timothy Grassi and Rev. John Callaway officiating. Interment will follow in the Pifer Mountain Cemetery.
