Donald Woods

Donald William Woods Sr., 81 of Pierce, WV passed away surrounded by his family on December 17, 2018 at his home. He was born July 13, 1937 in Uniontown, PA a son of the late Harry Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Murphy Woods.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Elizabeth Shepard Woods. He is also survived by one son, Donald William (Margaret) Woods Jr., Whiley Ford, WV, three daughters, Pamela Kay (Brian) Ball, Kingwood, WV, Rebecca Ann Woods, fredericksburg, VA, and Mary Katherine Woods, Thomas, WV, one brother, Gary (Sharon) Woods, Albany GA, and one sister, Deborah (Joe) Abraham, Hopwood, PA, seven grandchildren, Tina Ferguson, Oakland, MD, Rebecca Simmons, Patterson Creek, WV, Chanel Payne, Fredericksburg, VA, and T.J. Jones, Eglon, WV, Sarah and Theresa McCeney, Fredericksburg, VA, and Amy Jones, Kuwait, six great-grandchildren, Katlyn and Cassie Ferguson, Oakland, MD, Adam Simmons, Patterson Creek, WV, Avery Payne, Fredericksburg, VA, William and David Jones, Eglon, WV.

He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Austin Jones and Abel Payne.

Mr. Woods worked for the Naval Research Lab in Washington D.C. for over 35 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 2010 and a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Thomas, WV.

Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 19, from 4-8 PM with Rosary held at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 20, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant.
