David Edison White, 78, of Oakland, passed away on October 11, 2024, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on June 15, 1946, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Harry Edison and Bertha (Shockey) White.
David was a proud graduate of Southern High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army; earning the National Defense Service Metal for Sharpshooter. He worked in the Steel Mills in Warren, OH, before returning home to work alongside his father in the family logging business. David enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his family riding motorcycles, attending NASCAR races, bluegrass festivals, and outdoor events. He also enjoyed tinkering around the farm, cutting firewood, and spending time with his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa White and husband Jeff Davidson, Salena White and partner Tyler Cowan, and Susan Bittinger and spouse Scott; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Stewart; four siblings, Thomas White and wife Donna, Alberta Rice and husband Ed Rice, Betty Stalnaker and husband Carl, and Gary White.
David's request for cremation was honored and a celebration of life will be held privately.
