Daniel Donley

Daniel Gibson Donley, Jr., 70, of Oakland, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Born on June 30, 1952, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Daniel G. Sr., and Marie A. (Johnston) Donley.

Daniel was a graduate of Southern High School. He worked for Garrett County Roads Dept. for over 30 years. He also worked for the Town of Oakland at the water treatment plant and at the Sterling Processing Plant. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Daniel was a certified HAM Radio Operator and had a morning routine of talking to his friends on it. He loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia (Crosco) Donley, to whom he was married on July 19, 1974; two daughters, Nikki Donley Hinebaugh of GA and Alyssa Paugh Hyson of Louisville, KY; six grandchildren, Markus Mesa, Shiyanne Hinebaugh, Jessie Hinebaugh, Chloe Paugh, Sara Hyson, and Eyain Paugh; a niece, Catherine Donley; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Sara Fredlock Donley; and a brother, Christopher Donley.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St. Oakland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 11, 2023, in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 208 S 4th St. Oakland, with Father Martin Smay as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
