Connie Young

Connie Louise (Ashby) Young, 80, of Oakland, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Born on April 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey T. and Evelyn (Koontz) Ashby.

Connie's home was her whole world, she loved her flowers and plants, cooking and cleaning, and her birds, bunnies, and deer. One of her proudest accomplishments was raising a baby blue jay with an eyedropper, which lived to be 18 years old. She also bottle-fed a baby fawn and raised it to adulthood, along with two baby kittens from the barn.

Connie and her husband started G & C Construction. They built many projects over the years. She loved working on building their home together and adding her own personal touch. She loved meeting people and had a very outgoing personality. She was considered by many as the official mayor of the Honi-Honi Venue. She loved playing tennis, skiing, and all outdoor activities. Since Connie and her husband could not have their own children, they spent all their time together and had many fond memories together.

Connie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gary Michael Young; a daughter, Sandra Darlene Quinn and husband Bill; a granddaughter, Emily Laura Quinn; a brother, Thomas Dorsey Ashby and wife Pat; a niece, Leslie Ashby; along with special friends, Lillian Steele, Caroline Brenneman, and Kathy Resta.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland and on Saturday May 13, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM at the Crellin United Methodist Church, 64 Otterbein St, Oakland. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Carl Fike officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashby Cemetery.
