Charles "Buss" Richard Wolford, 78, of Dryfork, WV, passed from this life Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on Wednesday, January, 19, 1944 in Dryfork, a son of the late Charles and Zettie Huffman Wolford.
On August 18, 1965, he was united in marriage to Grace Maxine Varner. Left to cherish Buss' memory, in addition to his wife, are three children, Barbie Brown and husband John of Dryfork, Tammy Elza and husband Jeff of Harman and Doug Wolford and wife Melodee of Coalton; seven grandchildren, Kevin Brown and wife Jess of Dryfork, Josh Brown and companion Tiffany Arbogast of Mill Creek, Candace Elza of Elkins, Casey Elza and companion Collette Knotts of Elkins, Josh Hedrick and wife Heather of Elkins, D.J. Wolford and fiancé Paige of Elkins, and Ashley Wolford of Coalton; Five great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kylie Brown, Easton Brown, Clarissa and Avery Hedrick; two sisters, Shirley Chennoweth and Joanne Judy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Stephen (Stevie) Wolford; one sister, Betty Chenoweth; one great-granddaughter, Maddison Hedrick and one niece, Lisa Mullen.
Buss attended Harman High School. Prior to his retirement he worked for Buffalo Coal for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, digging ramps, looking for morels and spending time with his family and friends. The more people around, the better.
Friends will be received at the Dryfork Assembly of God Church, in Dryfork, WV, on Saturday, April 2, from 11 am to 2 pm, a funeral service held at 2 pm with Pastor Bill Lewellen officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonner-Wolford Cemetery. Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Wolford family at this time.
