Charles Wood

Charles Edward “Sonny” Wood, 75, of Thomas, WV passed away at his home on August 20th, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born February 11th, 1944 in Alexandria, VA a son of the late Aleph “Ham” and Clara Elizabeth Moore Wood.

He is survived by his three sons- Anthony (Deb) Wood of Cincinnati, OH, Michael Wood of Davis, WV and Charles “Chuck” (Tina) Wood of Davis, WV and one sister, Delores Bowling of Harwood, MD.

Grandchildren-Rebekka, Sara, Nick, Lily, Jacob, Halee, Peyton and Great Grandchildren Blake and Kylie. Sonny is also remembered and loved by several nieces and nephews.

Sonny was truly a jack-of-all-trades-meat cutter, truck driver but took great pride in being an employee of Blackwater Falls State Park for the last years of his career. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Fourth of July was his favorite holiday, hosting the family gathering at his house was his greatest joy. Sonny will be missed immensely by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sonny’s favorite charity organization- St. Jude’s.

Friends will be received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, Friday, August 23, 2019 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held, 11:00 am, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery.
