Charles Lloyd Plessinger, Sr., of Oakland, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on December 25, 1948 in Somerset, PA, he was the son of the late Claude W. and Grace (Moore) Plessinger. Charles was a graduate of Southern High School. He retired from his career at Mettiki Coal where he worked as a mechanic. Charles enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, ginseng and mushroom hunting, and woodworking. Charles loved his wife and family very much. He enjoyed spending time with all of them eating, laughing, working puzzles, playing cards and making memories. He could make the best homemade apple pies in the world. He was a great “storyteller” of jokes and loved to make his family laugh. Charles loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. His family was his life. He adored his grandchildren and was very proud to be a great grandfather.
Charles is survived by his bride of 52 years, Sandra K. (Crosco) Plessinger; his children, Brenda K. Blank, Charles L. Plessinger, Jr. and wife Patty, Stacy J. Green and friend Mike McCroskey, all of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren, Lacy Harkins, Alisha Martin and husband Tommy, Dustin Green, Gracie Plessinger, Delaney Green; a great grandson, River Harkins; his siblings, Claude “Whitey” Plessinger, Jr. and wife Andrea, Clara Fitzwater and husband Chris.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 4-7 PM and again on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 10-11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Dave Marsh officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions maybe made to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134.
