Blake Dever

Blake Dever, 29, of Oakland passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, in Rawlings, MD. Born March 18, 1994, in Oakland, he was the son of Valerie Helbig and Michael Dever.

Blake loved life, family and friends. In Blake's younger years, he raced motocross, was an avid skier, enjoyed skeet shooting, hunting, fishing and the outdoors in general. He had an infectious way with people and befriended quickly with all his wit and humor.

Blake is survived by his loving mother, Valerie Helbig and fiance`Byron Payne; his father, Michael Dever; his son, who was his absolute pride and joy, Jase Dever; his brother, Braden Dever and wife Chelsie; grandparents, Fred Helbig and wife Beverly, Patricia Helbig, and Vickie Dever; aunts, Rebecca Helbig and Melody Helbig; nephew, Jaylin Dever; niece, Willow Dever; cousins, Alyssa and Amanda Nolan, and Maggie Helbig; great aunt, Sandy Dewitt; and special great aunt, Patty and uncle, Douge Helbig.

Blake was preceded in death by is grandfather, John W. Dever, and uncle, J.R. Helbig.

"In one of the stars I shall be living and within that star I shall make it shine."

A private burial and graveside service will be held at The Helbig Family Farm on June 10, 2023, with Father Smay officiating. Family and close friends will be contacted regarding the time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in Blake's memory for his son or to the Reflection House.
