Audley William Riley Jr., 83, of Oakland, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Born on November 5, 1938, in Westernport, MD, he was the son of the late Audley William and Elizabeth Ann (Fitzwater) Riley.
Audley, better known as Junior, was a man of few words, but had a contagious smile that would light up the room. He was a hard worker and dedicated family man. At the age of 18 he began his career as a dozer operator. This path continued for various coal companies until he retired at the age of 77. He was an active member of the Ryan's Glade Community and White United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Ann (Steyer) Riley of Oakland; three daughters, Durenda Sheally and companion Shane Hart of Morgantown, WV, Denise Moon and husband Luther of Mt. Storm, WV, and Donnette Lewis and companion John Reams of Oakland; six grandchildren, Nicole Ferguson and companion Bo, Brooke Ferguson and companion Nick, Amber Stonesifer and husband Trevor, Justin Sheally, Jeremiah and Talon Lewis; nine great grandchildren, Hailey, Emma, Raelynn, Clayton, Annabella, Willa, Jenson, Alena and Karlee; three brothers, Dennis, Robert, and Reese Riley; as well as many other loved and cherished family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Ethelwyn (Otto) Riley; one brother, Royce Riley; and several nephews, aunts, uncles and loved ones.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 5 to 8 PM at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home P.A., 21 N. 2nd St. Oakland MD, 21550. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 11 AM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating.
