Alice Moats

Alice J. “Sis” Werdebaugh Moats, 90, of Terra Alta and formerly of Oakland died on Monday, April 23, 2018, at her home with loving family at her side.  Born on August 6, 1927, in Turner Douglas, WV, she was the daughter of the late Bruner and Edith (Sines) Friend.  She will be remembered fondly and missed deeply.  She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Leslie Moats; children, Darrell Werdebaugh, Brad Werdebaugh and wife Sherry Ruth, and Cheryl Uphold and husband Edgar, Jr., all of Oakland; a stepson, Walter Moats and wife Loretta of Kingwood, WV; grandchildren, Scott Werdebaugh and wife Sharon, Marty Werdebaugh and wife Linda, Matthew Werdebaugh, Joel Uphold, Jordan Uphold, Carrie Werdebaugh, and Brianne Perez and husband Tim; step grandchildren, Brian Moats and wife Skye and Jennifer Bowling and husband BJ; four great grandsons and several step great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Werdebaugh; a granddaughter, Shawny Marley; great grandson, TJ Werdebaugh; daughter in law, Vi Werdebaugh; five brothers; and three sisters.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Barbara Fike officiating.  Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. Alice’s family would like to thank West Virginia Caring Hospice and Preston County Home Health for the excellent care provided.
