Cecil E. Martin, 75, of Oakland, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on March 14, 1943 in Aurora, WV, he was the son of the late Elwood and Merle (Fint) Martin. Cecil graduated from Southern High School and attended Frostburg State University. Over the years, he worked at several local businesses including Bausch and Lomb, Ray Teet’s Garage, Sisler Lumber Company and Arnold Brothers. Cecil was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. He had a caring spirit and generous nature. He was very industrious and helpful to everyone he met. Cecil is survived by two daughters, Ruth A. Hamilton and husband Ricky of Oakland and Rebekah C. Brown and husband David of Manassas; grandchildren, Savannah, Bradly, Sarah, Garrett, Nolan; siblings, Ernest Martin and wife Pat, Alva Martin and wife Ruby, Albert Martin and friend Trina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Martin. In accordance with Cecil’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Cecil’s family would like to thank Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad and the staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital for the compassion care shown to him.
